A Few Humorous Construction and Marketing Related Items that have come our way together with links to Articles and Sites of Interest and Intrigue.

The Bermuda Triangle of Productivity

This definitely depicts the fears employers have with allowing their employees have PC’s with internet access during work time, the pull of the Social Networks into the ‘Bermuda Triangle of Productivity’ and why a lot of the companies and clients that I deal with actively blacklist social network use on work PC’s.

.

You will also note the scale has been changed to measurements of time rather than distance.

A link to the graphic artist’s site is given below which also gives her similar reason for coming up with the very apt idea for the graphic.

Tetris on LinkedIn

Here’s one I caught on a podcast the other day from Tekzilla. Never mind Empire Avenue or Zynga games lets go old school and mix this with our network contacts by playing Tetris where each of the various shaped blocks contains a contact from your LinkedIn Network.

The site is developed by DropIn and can be accessed by your LinkedIn login here is a link to the DropIn site and one to the Tekzilla review site and explanation video, as they say a picture paints a thousand words…but a video can tell you a lot more.

Cool Pools

As I am Project Managing a contract at the moment which includes the installation of a New Indoor Swimming Pool (a variation added just after construction started) I was interested when I had this article sent to me via email from the people at Insure and Go and hope they don’t mind me putting a link to their site so you can see the other Cool Pools they have found round the world as well as the sneak preview below.

I can only imagine some of the design, engineering and planning that went in to the construction of some of these pools making my small project seem insignificant. Mind you will ask if my client will fill his pool up with Beer like the pool in Austria… see link http://www.insureandgo.com/escape/Cool-pools.

Highest Pool – Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

.

You’ll need to be pretty good with heights to handle this pool. Located on the 57th floor of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, the pool offers breath-taking views of the Singapore skyline. However, I imagine that the view would be somewhat overshadowed by the nagging feeling that you could plunge to your death at any given moment, what with the pool being right on the edge of the building and all.

Biggest Pool – San Alfonso del Mar, Algarrobo, Chile

Covering a mind-boggling area of 19 acres, the San Alfonso del Mar pool holds the Guinness World Record for World’s Largest Swimming Pool. The pool holds a massive 66 million gallons of water but, fortunately, is located right next to the Pacific Ocean, so it has a pretty large water supply on tap. The water is also crystal clear, thanks to advanced technology which filters and treats it before it is pumped into the pool.

Deepest Pool – Nemo 33, Brussels, Belgium

With a maximum depth of 33 metres, Nemo 33 is the deepest swimming pool in the world. Designed by diving expert John Beernaerts, the pool contains a number of underwater caves and passages for divers to explore, along with underwater windows for spectators to look into the pool. Solar panels are also used to heat the pool, enabling it to maintain a pleasant temperature of 30 degrees Celsius.
